Teen Health Educators
Through our award-winning flagship program, we extensively train selected high school students about critical youth health issues. The Teen Health Educators then work in small teams to provide peer education and mentoring throughout the community and state with a special focus on helping vulnerable youth.
Graduates of our Teen Health Educator program, Young Adult Leaders have completed high school and have at least one year of committed experience as a Teen Health Educator. If invited onto the YAL program, they receive additional training on career and effective leadership skills. They then serve in expanded, paid roles as leaders and mentors for our high school-age Teen Health Educators.
After extensive additional training on trauma and self-care, the Trauma Leadership Corps, comprised of Young Adult Leaders and Teen Health Educators, supports other youth and youth-serving providers in responding to stress and trauma. The TLC also raises community awareness about the power of youth peer-to-peer training and support.
Healthy Teens has been proud to support the School District of Manatee County's Teenage Parent Program (TAPP) for a number of years.
This wonderful program supports pregnant and parenting teens to complete their high school education while receiving critical information and help to care for their new baby. It is a privilege to support these young men and women, as they seek to ensure the best possible future for their family.
